Whilst there is no cure for Dry Eye, these simple tips and tricks can help reduce Dry Eye and ease those bothersome symptoms.

 

Lifestyle changes to help reduce Dry Eye

 

Healthy Habits

  • Have your eyes checked regularly.4
  • Keep your eyelids clean and clear of debris using your go-to eyelid cleansing wipes.5
  • Whether putting in drops or applying makeup, wash, rinse and dry your hands before touching your eyes.
  • If you wear contacts, keep lenses clean and only wear them as prescribed.
  • Wear glasses on windy days and goggles when swimming.1
  • Quit smoking and/or avoid secondhand smoke. 1

 

Healthy Diet

  • Hydrate, drink plenty of water.
  • Eat a healthy diet that includes Omega-3 fatty acids.3

Healthy Environment

  • Use proper lighting.4
  • Reduce the amount of air that blows into your eyes (hair dryers etc.).4
  • Monitor indoor humidity or add a humidifier as needed.4

 

Take a Break

  • Try to blink every five seconds, especially when staring at your computer screen or digital device. Clean your monitor, reduce the screen glare and sit the correct distance from your screen (about 75cm).4
  • Take breaks from extended activities like working at the computer or reading.4
  • Use the 20:20:20 rule: Try looking at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.4

  • Warm Compress; A damp washcloth or other warm compress can soothe dry eyes and provide almost instant relief2
